How It Works
Step 1.
Your healthcare provider sends us an order for you to be tested for the virus that causes COVID-19.
Step 2.
A specimen is collected from one of the collections sites (addresses on homepage) using a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab kit.
Step 3.
A courier will pick up the specimen from the collection site and deliver it to the testing lab.
Step 4.
Once the specimen is delivered to the testing lab it will be processed and testing will begin.
Step 5.
The first step in testing is to extract RNA from the virus that causes COVID-19, if it is present in the swab.
Step 6.
The second step in testing is to convert the RNA into DNA so that the DNA can be copied millions and billions of times in order to detect even the smallest number of COVID-19 viruses potentially present in the specimen
Step 7.
The results are reported to your healthcare provider. This will help your healthcare provider to make informed recommendations about your care and they will provide you the results of the test.
